Molehill Mt Equipment Kids Gear

November 10th, 2008 · No Comments

Little Mountain Outfitters has just been updated with the latest kids gear for fall/winter 08 from Molehill.

Molehill Mountain Equipment has spent the last thirteen years making products that enable, encourage, and enhance active outdoor lifestyles for families.  Spending time in nature is important because we think many of society’s ills can be cured through family outdoor activities. Environmental ambivalence, high childhood stress levels, video game obsession, childhood obesity, lack of family cohesiveness…all can be improved by the formative physical and spiritual growth that takes place when families spend time outdoors together. Molehill children’s clothing products can help you in the process by keeping your children warm, dry, and comfortable.

Molehill Mt Equipment makes the best gear on the planet to insure your child’s comfort so that you can worry about other things. The updated Snow Jackets and bibs feature waterproof breathable material and luxurious fleece linings. The All Weather Rain Gear collection features taped-seam rain jackets and rain pants will keep your kids totally dry.  Looking for warm and cozy?  New Molehill Down Jackets utilize only the best down fill.  Another new item for middle insulating layers are the 4 way Stretch Fleece tops and bottoms.  There are also wicking base layers in crew neck tops and long pant bottoms made out of Malden Mill’s Polartec Powerdry fabric.

Making sure the hands and feet stay warm and dry is an essential part of any cold weather excursion.  Molehill Mt Equipment has got the kids well covered with their Glacier Mitt’s and Sno-Moc booties.  The Glacier Mitt has a long gauntlet style cuff with a hook and loop closure to make sure snow stays out.  The same waterproof fabric and fleece lining is used for the mittens as is used in the Snow Jackets.  For the feet Molehill has come out with a new version of their popular Shelled Booties.  They are now called the Sno-Moc and have the exact same construction with the exception of sole.  Responding to customer feedback about durability and wear the sole fabric has been changed from a rubber material to a woven polyester with PU nubs for grip.  The fabric is coated with Polyurethane for water proofing.

Kid’s Boot Gaiters

November 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Looking for children’s hiking or snow boot gaiters?  We’ve got them at www.littlemountainoutfitters.com!  If you’ve been searching for them you’ve probably come a lot of out dated info for the Outdoor Research(OR) ones.  Well, to the best of our knowledge they no longer exist.   You may also have come across some folks in Canada or the UK that offer them but that’s a bit of a hassle to get them.  We’ve been searching and asking our vendors for the past three years for someone to make them.  Finally the folks at Lucky Bums have stepped up and answered the call.  Thankfully they have done it well.

Why use a boot gaiter?

Gaiters can be used for dry or wet weather conditions.  They are useful for ensuring nothing such as stones or water gets into a shoe or boot.  In dry conditions if your child is wearing shoes or boots and you find yourself on terrain with lots of little rocks that keep kicking up the gaiters will keep them out of shoes or boots.  For wet weather boot gaiters can help bridge a gap between rain pants and boots.  They also reduce the chance of any water splashing into shoes from the top or soaking through.  One of the most popular uses of boot gaiters for children is for snow use when cross country(nordic) skiing or snow shoeing.  Wearing the gaiter will make it possible for your child to forgo wearing a bulky insulated snow pant if the weather isn’t too cold.  It can also provide enough protection so that you may not even need a fully waterproof shoe for snow shoeing.

Beco Butterfly II now available

October 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Beco Butterfly II baby carrier Jacob printThe Beco Butterfly II Baby Carrier is now available at www.littlemountainoutfitters.com.  Here’s what’s up with version 2 of the Beco Butterfly Carrier:

  • Detachable infant insert.  This allows you to place the infant insert in an outside pouch or store at home when not in use.  The original Beco Butterfly Carrier infant insert was permanently secured in the carrier creating more fabric than many users cared for.
  • Revised Sleeping hood. The hood has been contoured with elastic and attaches with snaps inside the outside pocket where it  can be stored out of the way when not in use.  It also has multiple snaps to securely attach to the should straps.  The original design of the Beco Butterfly Carrier allowed you to remove the hood and store it on the hipbelt.  This was nice for users that didn’t often use the hood but it wasn’t very convenient for a good number of users with children that sleep in the carrier.  The shape also wasn’t the best for securing the childs head.  Maximum length of the straps is about 22 inches long.
  • Outside pocket added.  The outside pocket did not exist on the orignal Beco Butterfly Carrier.  It is handy for storing the hood or infant insert.  It is low profile so you can fit keys, cell phone, and some cash or credit cards in but not much else.

That’s the low down.  The overall design of the Beco Butterfly Carrier has not changed, it’s still one of the best soft carriers for babies and toddlers.  There are a few new prints you can check out below.  The most exciting is probably the addition of an organic fabric.  You will pay a few dollars more for the premium fabric at $159.00  For now It is just being offered in the Joey Print.  We are confident there will be more in the future.

If these updates don’t seem to significant for you it’s not too late to pick up the original Beco Butterfly on sale.  There are still some great choices left.  Beco Butterfly Abby on saleBeco Butterfly Martini on sale.

Children’s Obermeyer Ski Clothes, Jackets, and Outerwear for Kids

September 21st, 2008 · 1 Comment

Obermeyer winter clothing for kids has been a cornerstone of Little Mountain Outfitters’ product selection for over 10 years.  Obermeyer is known for creating innovative designs in high performance children’s clothing for .  Known for high performance and fashion forward snow sport apparel design for skiers, snowboarders and outdoor enthusiasts.  Each year Obermeyer creates a kids’ collection with the same technical and fashion details as the adult lines, even using the same high quality fabrics.

In addition, features like string-free elasticized hoods that fit with helmets, the handy Gator Garage(tm) for glove/mitten retainer clips and the custom I Grow garment adjustment system pioneered by Obermeyer, step up to meet the specific demands that kids make of their winter outerwear.  Bright and functional compass zipper pulls, appliqués and sparkle fleece keep it all fresh and fun.  The children’s and junior’s Obermeyer outerwear selections for boys and girls, including ski jackets, pants, and one-piece snow suits, are created with every last detail in mind.  Obermeyer’s intense focus on children and toddler ski clothes inspired the designers to invent the original “Grow Cuffs” system.  This system was designed to allow parents to purchase the best fitting size early in the season and be secure in the knowledge that if the child does have a growth spurt midway through the winter season then the clothes will still fit.  For kids that don’t have that significant growth it often allows kids to enjoy their ski jacket, pants, or one piece snow suit for an extended amount beyond that first winter season.  Kids of all ages love Obermeyer’s designs, keeping them looking cool and feeling warm when they’re on the slopes.

When you are buying Obermeyer products you can be secure in the quality and functionality and enjoy some of the great designs they offer in girl’s and boy’s winter outfits.  A delightful surprise year after year, Obermeyer delivers the value that parents appreciate and fun design that preschoolers love to wear. The great fitting, durable and functional construction of Obermeyer’s outerwear keeps children dry and both parents and children happy on the hill.

For girl’s there is our selection from the Obermeyer Cosmic Rainbow collection has two girl’s ski jackets in Orchid puple with matching snow pants.  From the Obermeyer Sugar collection we hace selected a sporty assortment of Taffy pink and polka dot fizzle print jackets, pants, and one piece snow suits.

For Boy’s we have chosen items from the Obermeyer’s classic OBX ski collection and the new fashion forward Grommet collection.  Both have great options for boy’s winter ski jackets, boy’s pants or bibs, and coordinating hats and gloves for boy’s.

Our top reasons to buy kid’s Obermeyer ski clothes and accessories:

The “Grow Cuffs” system on all toddlers jackets and pants. How does the grow system work?

Inside the sleeve and pant leg you will see a seam with a different color stitching. Seam rip this and the I-Grow Coat will extend 1 ½ inches. Obermeyer’s I-Grow pants will extend 2 inches. The I-Grow Pants are also available in the Obermeyer Junior collections.

Gator Garage in all preschool jackets contains a built in mitten clip.

Detachable, insulated hoods which gives the kids the option, depending on the weather and/or current trends.

Waterproof, insulated pants incorporate lots of pockets for gloves, iPods, snacks, and more.

Great layers; Obermeyer makes wonderful micro fleece tops and bottoms that can be worn as next to skin base layers or as an insultating layer.  The UG 100 Zip neck and Pant for boys and girls is offered in the preschool collection for children and in the bigger kids junior collection.  Layering with Obermeyer insures that your kid will stay warm & comfortable in the cold winter months.

Cute mitten designs for children, complete with fleece thumb for runny noses.  Of course, all are machine washable.

Hats in a variety of styles fitting for every youth including: beanies, headers, brimmers and orbit fleeces.
